New Workshop - Color Mixing Secrets

Learn how to master the color wheel
to easily mix ANY color!

Wednesday afternoons in August  from 1 PM to 4 PM
August 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2014

We’ll learn how and why the color wheel is used when mixing colors; how to mix tints, tones and shades without getting “mud” or using "recipes". We’ll learn how to improve our paintings using a limited palette and complementary, analogous and triadic color schemes. We’ll also do a few exercises that will help us “paint loose”. This is not a typical “paint-along” workshop but we will put what we’ve learned to use by painting a landscape using only 3 colors. Instructor is Maureen Butler. Workshop fee is $25.

Seating is limited to 8 students, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance.

Please register in advance so that sufficient supplies will be available for each student.. Bring your acrylic paints, brushes & palette to class. Acrylic dries fast so is best for doing exercises but oils are acceptable. Also bring a tablet to take notes and your color wheel, if you have one. Canvas paper and/or canvas boards will be used to practice color mixing and will available for purchase during class along with a special color wheel.

We are displaying artwork by local home schooled children and local school students.  Some of the students are from Winston, Roseburg, Canyonville, and Myrtle Creek.  Stop by and see what good artists these students are.

On May 17th we will be holding a reception for these talented students.  There will also be an art demonstration by Payton Burnett showing how she paints with her mouth.  Some of the students will be here to mingle with everyone.  The reception will be from 11:00a.m. to 1/30p.m.  See you on May 17th.
